After coming across and using a ton of stand mixers in the past, and owning a huge percentage of those stand mixers, it’s become very easy for me to tell what stand mixer is worth the money and what stand mixer you should never spend a cent on. One of the mixers I’ve had a lot of experience with is the KitchenAid KSM150PSMA Artisan Series 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer and I’m inclined to say this is one of the very best stand mixers ever produced, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.
In the following paragraphs, I’ll discuss the features, benefits, and drawbacks of using this product, and then we’ll know for sure if this is the right stand mixer for you or not.
Features and Benefits of the Artisan Stand Mixer
The first benefit of this stand mixer is that it comes from the KitchenAid brand. When you’re buying a new product or considering buying one, it’s important to buy from a trusted brand because they’re trusted for a reason – they’ve perfected the art of making what they sell, so you’re more likely to buy a high quality product that performs well when you buy from a longstanding brand, and KitchenAid is one such brand.
There’s just something special about using a KitchenAid mixer. You also get to benefit from the wealth of experience they have in making outstanding mixers in terms of the kind of mixing results you get, performance of your stand mixer, features, and durability.
Next up is the actual features/benefits, and there are many. You can customize this mixer by picking from the huge variety of colors KitchenAid offers you. This means you can pick a color that suits your taste or your kitchen’s decor.
This stand mixer comes with a 5-quart bowl, which has 59 touchpoints. This means it’s large enough to mix large batches of ingredients for baking large batches of cookies, cake, and more. Its 59 touchpoints ensure thorough mixing of your ingredients since the mixer covers every part of the work bowl.
It has a tilt-head design, so it’s easy to add ingredients to the work bowl by tilting the head up, adding your ingredients, and pushing it back into place.
Thanks to the 10 speed options the KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer offers, you can mix ingredients for any recipe. It comes with a coated dough hook, a coated flat beater, and a 6-wire whip, all of which make the machine incredibly versatile for multiple tasks. It also comes with a pouring shield, whose purpose you know already.
The Artisan stand mixer also supports more than 10 attachments for ice cream, pasta, veggie noodles, burgers, and more. As far as stand mixers are concerned, there’s almost nothing this machine can’t do.
Drawbacks of the Artisan Stand Mixer
First off, the 10+ attachments it supports have to be purchased separately. For a stand mixer that is so expensive, I expected that they would include at least a few of these attachments in the package. Also, KitchenAid advises new buyers to clean the work bowl in order to get rid of the contamination that occurs during the final polishing process. They should be doing this themselves instead of asking buyers to complete their work for them. I don’t know if this has changed though, but I thought you should know.
Is the KitchenAid Artisan the Best Stand Mixer?
Whilst this isn’t a perfect stand mixer (nothing is), there aren’t many models that can rival this one on the market. So, you can’t go wrong with this one. It has tons of positive ratings, it’s durable, versatile with extensive support for attachments, and feature-rich. Above all, it performs excellently. I could easily call this the best stand mixer, and I don’t think I’d be far from the truth.
